Chelsea loanee Djordje Petrovic has made such a strong impression at Strasbourg that manager Liam Rosenior is already dreaming of keeping him beyond this season.
Petrovic, who joined the French side on loan in search of regular first-team football, has clearly won over his manager—not just with his performances, but with his professionalism and character.
Rosenior could not hide his admiration for the Serbian goalkeeper, saying: “The more I see him here, the more he smiles, and the happier he is. It’s to his credit. He has a beautiful young family who has settled in the area, and he’s going to have a remarkable career.”
Those are powerful words, especially coming from a manager who’s only just started working with Petrovic. The Chelsea shot-stopper has impressed on the pitch, but it’s his attitude off it that seems to have left a lasting impact on Rosenior and the club.
The Strasbourg boss also admitted he would love to extend their working relationship: “I love working with him and hopefully somehow we can still collaborate in the future. Whether it’s here or elsewhere in five years, I’d like it to be next season.”
Chelsea will be keeping a close eye on Petrovic’s development in Ligue 1. The Blues have a decision to make in the summer—especially with competition between the sticks heating up at Stamford Bridge. But Rosenior’s comments make it clear: if Chelsea are willing to loan him out again—or even let him go permanently—Strasbourg will be first in line.
For now, Chelsea fans can be proud that one of their own is making waves abroad—not just as a goalkeeper, but as a top professional and ambassador for the club.
