As Enzo Maresca prepares to take charge of his 50th game as Chelsea manager, the Italian tactician has taken a moment to reflect on his journey so far – and it’s clear he remains fully committed to the club’s long-term vision.

In what has been a rollercoaster debut season in English top-flight management, Maresca has guided a young and developing Chelsea side to sixth place in the Premier League table, amassing 57 points. While the Blues remain three points adrift of third-placed Nottingham Forest, the expectation is on Maresca to guide Chelsea to a top five finish.

“Very happy, it has been a good experience,” Maresca said, looking back at his first 49 games in charge. “I have learned many things. Playing every three days, it’s a journey in terms of learning things.”

It hasn’t been smooth sailing – injuries, inconsistent form, and the demands of multiple competitions have tested Maresca’s tactical flexibility and man-management skills. Yet, through it all, the former Manchester City assistant has shown signs of a manager building something meaningful at Stamford Bridge.

Maresca isn’t shy about the challenges, but he insists this is just the beginning. “This is the beginning of our vision,” he said, reinforcing the message that patience and belief are key to Chelsea’s rise back to the top.

Indeed, there’s a sense that the current Chelsea side is still a work in progress – full of raw talent, energy, and potential, but still in need of refinement. With a relentless fixture schedule and a youthful squad, Maresca’s role becomes even more vital in steering the ship.

As he hits the 50-game milestone, the big question remains: can Chelsea secure a top-five finish this season?
