Chelsea fans will witness a familiar face in the dugout this Saturday as former Blues goalkeeper Willy Caballero takes charge of the Premier League clash against Everton.
Head coach Enzo Maresca will serve a one-match suspension after picking up his third yellow card of the season, ruling him out of the Stamford Bridge touchline for the weekend.
Caballero, now 42, has been part of Maresca’s backroom staff since July 2024 and will temporarily step up from assistant coach to ‘interim manager’ for this important fixture. This marks a special moment for the Argentine, who made a name for himself during a trophy-laden career in England.
Blues supporters will remember Caballero fondly for his professionalism, leadership, and key role as a squad player between the posts during his Chelsea days. Most notably, he was part of the squad that lifted the UEFA Champions League in 2021, alongside other domestic honours. His Premier League journey also includes spells at Manchester City and Southampton, giving him a wealth of top-flight experience to draw upon.
The Blues are pushing for a strong finish in the league, and three points against Everton could prove crucial in the race for European qualification.
There’s no doubt all eyes will be on Caballero come Saturday.
