Confirmed: Chelsea’s opponents for the UEFA Conference League semi-final

Chelsea are through to the semi-finals of the UEFA Conference League, after edging past Polish side Legia Warsaw in the quarter-finals.

Following a 3-0 away victory, Chelsea were beaten 2-1 at home by Legia, thus sealing a 4-2 aggregate victory for Chelsea.

Chelsea will face Swedish side Djurgarden in the Conference League semi-final.

Djurgarden beat Rapid Wien 4-2 on aggregate to reach the semi-final.

The first leg is due to take place on May 1 in Sweden. A week later, on May 8, the teams will meet again at Stamford Bridge.

Djurgarden are currently 12th in the domestic league table, albeit only after three games.

The other semi-final will see Real Betis face Fiorentina.

Speaking after the game, Blues boss Enzo Maresca admitted that the performance and result was a setback.

“For sure we are not happy with the defeat,” Enzo Maresca said at a press conference after Chelsea lost to Legia 2-1 at Stamford Bridge.

“Probably the first leg with 0-3 we tried to manage the result and rotated players to avoid injuries because we have an important game on Sunday.

“For sure, we are not happy with the result despite being in the semi-final.

“For sure, tonight was a setback for us.

“We lost a game. The other clubs like Villa, Newcastle have more confidence around them but things in football can change quick. Sunday, for us, is a final and can be a boost to reach our target.”
