Chelsea fans were given a glimmer of hope in their pursuit of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen after the 26-year-old appeared to hint at a possible exit from Galatasaray.
Following Galatasaray’s triumphant clinching of their 25th league title and the addition of a symbolic fifth star to their badge, Osimhen told reporters: “We will make a decision soon. It will be decided what is best for you. Galatasaray will always be in my heart… Today was an unforgettable day, with our 25th title and our fifth star.”
Those words immediately sparked speculation, with many interpreting them as a heartfelt goodbye. The phrase “we will make a decision soon” suggests that a summer move is on the cards, while the emotional nod to Galatasaray – “Galatasaray will always be in my heart” – carries the tone of a player preparing to part ways with a club he deeply respects.
However, Galatasaray vice president İbrahim Hatipoğlu was quick to calm the waters. In an interview with AS, he clarified: “His words don’t mean he’s leaving. He said that even if he left in the worst-case scenario, Galatasaray would always be in his heart. But he didn’t say he’s leaving. We want him to stay with us.”
While Hatipoğlu’s comments seem to downplay the possibility of a departure, Chelsea fans know all too well that such quotes are often the prelude to a big summer move. Osimhen has long been admired by the Blues for his explosive pace, powerful finishing, and relentless work ethic – qualities Enzo Maresca is said to value as he plans a revamped attack at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are expected to be in the market for a striker, and with Osimhen potentially available, the pieces could fall into place. Whether his next move brings him to West London or not, one thing is clear: this summer, Osimhen will be one of the names dominating the transfer headlines.
Stay tuned, Chelsea fans. The decision, as Osimhen says, will be made soon.
