Chelsea winger Noni Madueke marked his return from injury in sensational style, netting a brace in his first start back as the Blues comfortably saw off Legia Warsaw 3-0 in the first leg of their UEFA Europa Conference League quarter-final tie.

It was a night of dominance in Poland as Enzo Maresca’s side put one foot in the semi-finals, but the story of the evening belonged to Madueke, who reminded everyone of his explosive quality on the European stage.

First and foremost, I’m delighted for the team,” Madueke told Chelsea’s official media after the final whistle. “To win 3-0 and to keep a clean sheet in a tricky environment, it’s really rewarding ahead of the second leg.

Madueke’s return could not have been more timely. Chelsea were in need of attacking spark, and the young England winger stepped up with a clinical display — coolly finishing both chances that came his way.

On a personal note, I’m really happy to score two goals. Having come back from injury, I wanted to find some rhythm and the goals have given me confidence for the next game,” he said.

With Maresca easing the winger back into action following a spell on the sidelines, this performance was a statement. Madueke not only looked sharp, but his understanding with teammates was on point, especially with the creative support behind him pulling the strings.

He praised the team performance as well as the mental strength shown in a tough away fixture. “We’re really happy with how the game went and to get a 3-0 win away from home, it’s really pleasing,” he added.

Madueke also highlighted the intensity of the occasion and the importance of keeping their focus. “We knew that this would be a really difficult tie to navigate, especially with the atmosphere generated from their fans. They get right behind their team and support them all the way.

In such a challenging environment, Chelsea were professional and ruthless — showing signs of maturity and control that fans have been waiting to see on a consistent basis. Madueke concluded: “So to come through this with a 3-0 win to take back to the Bridge for the second leg, we’re really pleased.

Madueke’s return and performance will be music to the ears of Chelsea fans as the Blues aim for silverware this season. With momentum building, Stamford Bridge will be rocking next week as Chelsea look to finish the job.
