There has been plenty of speculation surrounding the future of Jadon Sancho. The England international made the switch to Chelsea on loan from Manchester United, with the Blues having an obligation to sign him permanently for £25 million.
When asked about Sancho’s future during a recent press conference, Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca provided his thoughts.
“I love all the players with us,” Maresca said when questioned about Sancho’s situation.
“In this moment, it is to finish well and not think about next season. What happens in the summer, we will see. I am happy with all the players here.”
Maresca then addressed the topic of Sancho directly, adding: “You probably have more news than me in terms of Jadon. His situation does not change, it is exactly the same. He can do better in terms of numbers, no doubt, but it is not only Jadon.”
The Blues boss emphasised the importance of consistency and improvement from his players, stating: “I do not need to give Jadon a message, I speak with him every day. He needs to continue to give his best. That is what we want from Jadon.”
Despite his frequent appearances, Sancho has struggled to contribute on the scoresheet, failing to register a goal or assist for almost three months.
Chelsea reportedly have the option to avoid the obligation to purchase the winger at the end of the season by paying a £5 million fee.
As Chelsea’s season progresses, it remains to be seen whether Sancho will be a permanent fixture at Stamford Bridge beyond this season.
