Nottingham Forest head coach Nuno Espirito Santo has issued a bold warning, stating that the “Big Six” is an outdated concept.

“It has been changing,” the Portuguese coach said.

“This gap no longer exists in such a predominant way. Us as clubs besides the big six have been able to improve and compete.”

Santo’s comments reflect the shifting landscape of the Premier League, where teams outside the traditional powerhouses are closing the gap. He continues, “It’s a question of recruitment, and the competition itself makes players reach a higher level when they get to the Premier League. It’s about the quality of the players, the managers, and the quality of the game.”

While clubs like Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham continue to dominate financially, the likes of Nottingham Forest, Brighton, Bournemouth, Aston Villa, and Newcastle are increasingly making their presence felt.

This season has been particularly eye-opening: Forest currently sit third in the Premier League table, while Manchester United and Spurs are struggling in the bottom half.
