Chelsea have officially entered the race to sign Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams, with the club’s management beginning negotiations over a potential transfer, according to Teamtalk.

The report reveals that the 22-year-old Spaniard has a €58 million release clause in his contract, which could facilitate a move. However, a potential transfer to Stamford Bridge might face obstacles if Chelsea fail to secure Champions League qualification, as “the Spanish footballer dreams of playing in the competition.”

Williams remains under contract with Athletic until June 30, 2027, and his market value is estimated at €70 million, according to Transfermarkt.

The dynamic winger has been in impressive form this season, featuring in 37 matches for the Basque side, scoring nine goals and providing seven assists.

Chelsea will have to move fast, with Barcelona also keen on securing the exciting attacker.
