Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has provided fresh updates on Chelsea’s summer plans in his latest YouTube video. He reports that the Blues will be in the market for a new striker, a centre-back, and a winger when the transfer window opens.

There is also growing speculation regarding Jadon Sancho’s future at the club. According to The Athletic, Chelsea have the option to trigger a £5m break clause to send the winger back to Manchester United and terminate the loan obligation to buy.

If Chelsea fail to secure Champions League football, speculation over the futures of some of their biggest stars will only intensify. A number of key players could become unsettled, which may lead to significant departures.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, finance expert Stefan Borson has weighed in on Chelsea’s contract strategy and the future of players on long-term deals. He believes the club is open to selling some of those players, despite their heavy investment in multi-year contracts.

“They clearly still believe in very long contracts despite the situations that they found themselves in with [Mykhailo] Mudryk and many other players,” Borson stated.

“It’s not like these players that they’ve signed on seven, eight-year contracts are all working.

“I would say they absolutely are not working and a lot of them they’d like to shift on.

“Looking from the outside, it still seems a very odd approach on the contract side.

“But to be fair, the detail of those contracts may allow for earlier exits than the full terms.”

With Chelsea expected to reshuffle their squad in the summer, the next few months could be crucial in determining which of these long-term signings will remain at Stamford Bridge and which will be moved on.
