Arsenal icon Martin Keown has cast doubt over Cole Palmer’s long-term future at Chelsea, hinting that the talented forward may already be questioning his move to Stamford Bridge.
Speaking about the Blues’ struggles, Keown suggested that Palmer, despite his impressive individual performances, might not be entirely convinced by the club’s direction.
“Cole Palmer is probably wondering, ‘Hold on, what have I really signed for?’ I could see him leaving that football club in the next couple of years,” Keown stated.
Since his arrival from Manchester City, Palmer has been a shining light in Chelsea’s attack, delivering 14 goals and 6 assists in 31 appearances this season. However, Keown’s comments raise the question of whether the 22-year-old sees his long-term future in West London.
While there’s no indication from Palmer himself that he’s unsettled, Chelsea fans will hope that the club’s progress under Enzo Maresca convinces him to stay for years to come.
