Chelsea’s captain, Reece James, has finally opened his England account with a stunning free-kick in the World Cup Qualifier against Latvia.

The right-back, making his first start for the Three Lions in two and a half years, delivered a standout performance and marked the occasion with a memorable goal.

Speaking after the match, James reflected on the significance of the moment:

“It’s been a long time. I’ve had a frustrating two-and-a-half years. So happy to get called up again for England and play.”

The Chelsea star showcased his technical ability with a brilliant set-piece, curling the ball past the Latvian goalkeeper with precision. Describing his thought process before taking the shot, James said:

“I saw the wall and felt like I could bend it. Thankfully it hit the back of the net.”

After battling injuries that have limited his international appearances, James’ return to England’s starting lineup was a statement of his quality. Chelsea fans will be delighted to see their captain back in top form, and this goal could be the start of a strong run for him at both club and international level.
