Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez has come under the spotlight for the wrong reasons, as he currently leads Europe’s top five leagues for the most errors directly resulting in goals or penalties this season.

According to WhoScored, the Spanish shot-stopper has committed seven costly mistakes, more than any other player in the continent’s elite divisions. He sits ahead of Burnley’s Arijanet Muric and Hoffenheim’s Kevin Akpoguma, who have both recorded five errors each.

Despite keeping five clean sheets for Chelsea this season, Sanchez has also conceded 31 goals in 25 appearances, raising concerns about his reliability between the sticks. His performances have divided opinion among Blues fans, with some questioning whether he should remain the club’s first-choice goalkeeper moving forward.

With Chelsea’s ambitions hinging on defensive solidity, can Sanchez turn things around, or will the club be forced to look elsewhere for a safer pair of hands?
