Chelsea fans are eager to see Andrey Santos return to Stamford Bridge next season after an impressive loan spell at Strasbourg.
The 20-year-old Brazilian midfielder has been in fine form, scoring eight goals and providing one assist in 24 Ligue 1 appearances.
Recent reports suggested that Chelsea plan to integrate him into the first team for the 2024/25 season, but Santos himself has poured cold water on those claims, stating that he has not been informed of any concrete plans yet.
“A lot of people send me news, but I don’t think there’s anything concrete like that. No one has come directly to me or even talked to me,” he told the media.
For now, the young midfielder remains focused on finishing the season strongly with Strasbourg before any decisions are made about his future.
“I think it’s in Chelsea’s hands, it’s in my agents’ hands, it’s in my hands too. I think that right now I’m focused on these other games that are left which are very important here for Strasbourg.
“And when the season ends, we’ll see what happens, we’ll all sit down and talk to make the best decision for both sides.”
Despite his uncertain future, Santos made it clear that he dreams of playing for Chelsea, acknowledging the club’s stature in European football.
“Oh, of course, you want to play for the biggest clubs in Europe. It’s a very big club, Chelsea.
“Of course, you dream of this moment, but I think at the moment the best thing is to have a clear head, to finish the season here and to make the best decision when the season ends.”
With Chelsea expected to make key squad decisions in the summer, Santos’ future remains a talking point among fans. His performances in Ligue 1 suggest he is ready for the next step, but it will ultimately be up to Chelsea and their new manager, Enzo Maresca, to decide his fate.
