Chelsea midfielder Cole Palmer will not be joining the England squad for the upcoming international break after picking up an injury in training last week.

The Three Lions confirmed the news in a statement:

“Cole Palmer remains with Chelsea for further assessment on an injury sustained in club training last week. He won’t be part of England squad.”

Palmer was absent from a Chelsea Premier League starting XI for the first time since May 2024 due to the setback. His injury has raised concerns among Blues fans, but here’s the latest update on his condition.

Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca addressed Palmer’s absence on Sunday, confirming that the playmaker suffered a muscle injury during training on Saturday.

“His injury was from [Saturday’s] session, it’s a muscular problem,” Maresca revealed.

“He needs a scan, and it is planned for [Monday] morning. I hope he can be back for our next game, but we need to wait for a scan.”

With the March international break now in full swing, Chelsea will be hoping the time off allows Palmer to recover without missing competitive action. The Blues won’t play again until April, giving their star man a crucial window to regain full fitness.

Palmer had initially been selected for the England squad by Thomas Tuchel, but he has now withdrawn due to the injury. Chelsea fans will be anxiously awaiting further updates on his condition as the team prepares for a critical run of fixtures in the final stretch of the season.
