Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has acknowledged the challenge ahead in the race for a Champions League spot following his team’s 1-0 defeat to Arsenal.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Maresca said: “It is a big one for us and for all of the teams who are in there.

“When you win you are close to the target but when you lose you can see yourself as far away from the target.”

Chelsea currently hold fourth place in the Premier League, just one point ahead of Manchester City.

However, their position remains under threat, as Newcastle United could leapfrog them if they win their game in hand.

With the battle for the top four intensifying, Maresca and his squad will need a strong response after the international break to keep their Champions League hopes alive.
