Joao Felix’s time at AC Milan appears to be heading towards an early conclusion, as reports suggest that the Italian club will not negotiate a permanent transfer with Chelsea.
Despite an exciting start—scoring a stunning debut goal in the Coppa Italia against Roma—the Portuguese forward has failed to establish himself as a game-changer for the Rossoneri. With just one goal and one assist in nine appearances, Milan are unwilling to commit to a long-term deal.
According to Calciomercato, Milan had two options to secure Felix permanently:
€41-€45 million in the summer of 2025 and €31-€33 million in the summer of 2026 (if they extended his loan with an obligation to buy).
However, despite not yet appointing a new sporting director, Milan have already decided against pursuing a deal.
Back in December and January, Milan worked with Jorge Mendes to bring in Joao Felix on loan and also considered appointing Sergio Conceicao as manager. However, with both failing to make a significant impact, Milan will move on from both at the end of the season.
Felix’s return to Chelsea poses a dilemma. The Blues initially signed him on loan from Atletico Madrid in early 2023, but his future remains uncertain, as he appears unwanted by both Chelsea and Milan.
With Milan out of the picture, Chelsea may now have to find another buyer or reintegrate Felix into the squad—a scenario that remains unlikely under Enzo Maresca’s vision.
Felix’s next move could be crucial for his career, but as things stand, his future remains in limbo.
