Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has made it clear that delivering a trophy is a priority after guiding the Blues to the Conference League quarter-finals with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Copenhagen.

“It’s important to reach the quarter-finals. Now the target is the next step which is the semi-finals,” Maresca told TNT Sports after the win.

Chelsea secured their place in the last eight after a composed second-leg performance at Stamford Bridge, following up their 3-1 aggregate victory over the Danish side. Reflecting on the game, Maresca highlighted the team’s tactical improvements after the break.

“We deserved it over two legs. We changed and adjusted in the second half and we were much better. You need patience,” the Italian added.

Chelsea fans have high expectations for silverware, especially given the club’s rich history of success. When asked about the supporters’ demands for a trophy this season, Maresca did not shy away from the challenge.

“Exactly,” he responded. “This club always won trophies in the past and we need to do our best to achieve our target this season. We have to give to the fans and the club a title.”

With Chelsea still fighting on multiple fronts, the Conference League presents a real opportunity for Maresca to make his mark in his debut season. The Blues will now await their quarter-final opponents as they continue their quest for European silverware.
