Enzo Maresca has urged Chelsea fans to embrace his tactical approach after some supporters expressed frustration during the 1-0 win over Leicester City.

During the game, boos were heard when Enzo Fernandez opted to pass backward instead of progressing the ball forward. However, Maresca made it clear that his players are executing instructions as planned.

“The good thing is that Fernandez knows that if he doesn’t play back, I will change him. If the ‘keeper plays long, I will change him. This is what we have,” Maresca stated in his post-match press conference.

He acknowledged the frustration from some sections of the fanbase but pointed out that Chelsea’s system is producing results.

“I completely understand when there is some negative feeling but today, how many chances did we create first half? The second half, exactly the same. The players were giving everything. It’s normal because they don’t see behind [the scenes].”
