Paul Merson has backed Chelsea to claim victory over Leicester City but warned that a defeat would shatter their hopes of finishing in the Premier League’s top four.

The former Arsenal star acknowledged Chelsea’s recent struggles but believes their back-to-back wins against Southampton and Leicester could help them regain momentum.

“I can’t see anything but a Chelsea win here. Leicester have been poor this season. Even Chelsea have had major issues over the last few weeks, but back-to-back wins against Southampton and Leicester can now put them back on track,” Merson stated.

However, he stressed the importance of securing all three points, emphasising the consequences of a loss.

“If Chelsea lose this game, their aspiration of finishing in the top four will be over. I know Chelsea beat Southampton 4–0, but I can’t judge them based on that result,” he added.

With Chelsea looking to climb the table, all eyes will be on Enzo Maresca’s side as they aim to capitalise on their recent form and keep their top-four hopes alive.
