Romeo Lavia could finally be back in Chelsea’s matchday squad for their Premier League clash against Leicester City, Enzo Maresca has hinted.
The Belgian midfielder has been sidelined since January after playing back-to-back games before suffering another setback. However, Maresca has suggested he is nearing a return:
“Romeo could be fit, but not playing from the start.”
Chelsea have been cautious with Lavia’s recovery, especially after excluding him from their Conference League squad for the knockout rounds to help manage his fitness.
If he makes the bench against Leicester, it will be a big step forward in his journey back to full fitness, as Chelsea look to gradually reintegrate him into the squad.
