Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has emphasised his commitment to improving his squad as they enter the knockout stages of the UEFA Conference League.

Ahead of their clash against FC Copenhagen, Maresca explained that his main focus remains on player development and continuous improvement.

“We try game after game, to be focused on what we can do better, since we started. Not only the game, but the training sessions. The main focus is helping players improve,” Maresca said.

The Italian coach highlighted that Chelsea’s approach to preparation remains consistent, regardless of the opponent, as they aim to make steady progress.

“The preparation is exactly the same as we prepare Southampton, how we will prepare Leicester and the rest of the games,” he added.

With the Conference League knockout rounds spanning two legs, Maresca acknowledged the importance of managing the tie strategically.

“It’s not 90 minutes, it’s 180 minutes, so it’s a bit different. You can manage a little bit different.”

As Chelsea look to progress in Europe while maintaining their Premier League campaign, Maresca’s approach underscores his long-term vision of developing the squad while competing for silverware.
