Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has provided a positive update on Malo Gusto’s condition after the right-back was forced off injured during the Blues’ 2-1 victory over FC Copenhagen in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
Gusto, who started the match at the Parken Stadium, had to be substituted in the 25th minute due to an apparent injury, raising concerns among Chelsea fans ahead of Sunday’s crucial Premier League clash against Leicester City at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking after the game, Maresca reassured supporters that the Frenchman’s injury is not serious and that he could be available for the weekend.
“He’s okay and he’s better,” Maresca confirmed. “They told me he can be ready for Sunday’s game, so hopefully we can have him for Sunday.”
The news will come as a relief to Chelsea. The 21-year-old has been a key figure in Maresca’s system, delivering strong performances both defensively and in attack.
Chelsea’s attention now turns to Sunday’s league fixture against Leicester, where Maresca will hope to have Gusto available as the Blues push for a strong finish to the season. With European football aspirations still in play, having key players fit will be crucial in the final stretch of the campaign.
