Chelsea captain Reece James has assured fans that the team has learned valuable lessons from their recent dip in form, as they look to build momentum heading into the final stretch of the season.
The Blues have shown signs of recovery in recent matches, and James believes the squad, particularly its younger players, has grown from the challenging spell.
“Everyone wants to win and win and win,” James told Chelsea’s official website. “But when you learn the most, especially with a young team, is in those difficult periods.
“I think we learned a lot during this spell about ourselves and where we can do things differently going forward.”
Despite struggling for consistency earlier in the season, Chelsea have remained focused on their objectives. James emphasised the importance of staying united and reacting well to adversity.
“You can’t lose sight of what our targets are. These spells can happen in football—they’ve happened to the biggest teams in the world—but what we must do is react well, stick to what we know, and stick together as a group. That’s what we’re doing.”
Following a tough run where results didn’t always reflect their performances, Chelsea recently secured an important win, which James believes can serve as a turning point.
“We had a difficult run where things didn’t go our way despite good performances, so it was good to get the win.
“Now we have to focus on what’s ahead, with the Conference League restarting and the final months of the Premier League.
“We want to keep building momentum, finish the season in the right way, and qualify for the Champions League.”
With Chelsea balancing domestic and European commitments, James’ leadership and confidence will be key in ensuring the squad maintains focus and delivers a strong finish to the campaign.
