Todd Boehly finally speaks on rift with Behdad Eghbali

Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly has dismissed speculation of a rift with Clearlake Capital boss Behdad Eghbali, insisting that reports of internal disagreements have been blown out of proportion by the English media.

Speaking at the FT’s Business of Football Summit, Boehly made it clear that the club’s ownership remains united in its long-term vision.

“One thing I’ve learned about the British press is that they exaggerate a lot and omit things. I’m not going to comment,” Boehly stated, refusing to be drawn into details about his relationship with Eghbali.

Despite persistent rumors of growing tensions between the American billionaire and his Clearlake partners, Boehly reaffirmed that the Chelsea hierarchy is aligned on their strategy.

“We have agreed on a strategy and a way forward. More things are being done about the future, and I’m not looking in the rearview mirror,” he added, emphasising the club’s focus on long-term planning.

However, Boehly did not deny the possibility of changes to Chelsea’s ownership structure in the future, leaving room for speculation about potential shifts at the top.

Chelsea’s ownership group, led by Boehly and Clearlake Capital, has faced scrutiny over their decision-making and recruitment strategy since taking over the club in 2022. Their tenure has been marked by significant investment in young talent, managerial changes, and mixed results on the pitch.

While Boehly remains adamant that the club is on the right path, questions persist about the long-term stability of Chelsea’s leadership.
