Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has urged the club to push for the signing of Victor Osimhen, who continues to be linked with a move to Old Trafford.

Chelsea were close to signing Osimhen last summer, but the deal failed at the last phase just before transfer deadline.

The Napoli striker, eventually moved on loan to Galatasaray, where he has been in fine form, scoring 20 goals across all competitions.

With United in desperate need of a proven goal scorer, Ferdinand believes Osimhen is the ideal solution, and has told United to beat Chelsea to the signing.

“I’d be going to get Osimhen now,” Ferdinand said.

“If we could do it from a financial standpoint, get him on loan, I’d go and get Osimhen now.

“[He] guarantees you somebody who can get on the end of things, scores goals, he’s experienced, done it at the top level.”

With Manchester United struggling for consistency in front of goal, Osimhen’s proven track record at Napoli and now Galatasaray makes him an attractive option. Whether the club can secure a deal remains to be seen, but Ferdinand’s stance is clear – United need to act fast.
