Chelsea midfielder Cole Palmer’s recent dip in form has raised concerns among fans, with many linking his struggles to the absence of injured striker Nicolas Jackson.
Palmer, who had been Chelsea’s standout performer earlier in the season, has now gone seven games without a goal or assist. The Blues have also suffered collectively, winning just one of their last four matches under Enzo Maresca.
Fans took to social media to share their thoughts, with some blaming Maresca for failing to adjust his tactics in Jackson’s absence.
“This dip is on Maresca,” one fan claimed. “Never had another strategy with Palmer and other sets of attackers. Jackson was his go-to.”
Another fan highlighted the strong connection between Palmer and Jackson, saying, “He will keep on struggling without Jackson. It is clear that Jackson is Palmer’s control button.”
Some fans believe Palmer needs a break to regain his sharpness, while others insist he must learn to link up effectively with Christopher Nkunku.
“I think he should learn how to play with Nkunku,” one fan suggested.
Another added, “Palmer’s form will only improve when he is given the opportunity to rest and recharge.”
Jackson’s injury, initially thought to be minor, has now been confirmed as more serious, ruling the Senegalese striker out for six to eight weeks. His absence has left a noticeable void in Chelsea’s attack, and many hope his return will help Palmer rediscover his best form.
With the season reaching a critical stage, Maresca faces a tough challenge in finding a solution to get Palmer firing again in Jackson’s absence.
