Todd Boehly has acknowledged the difficulties faced since taking over Chelsea but insists that long-term progress is being made at the club.

Speaking at the Financial Times Business of Football Summit, the American businessman pointed to key changes within the club’s structure.

“If you look at the foundations that are being built: a new management team, new academy leadership, new sporting director leadership, new player mindset. Those things are all apparent in there,” Boehly explained.

He also admitted that it’s impossible to satisfy all fans at all times but remains confident in the club’s direction.

He said: “You’re not going to keep all the people happy all the time… but as long as you’re trending in the right direction, in general, you feel better.”

Chelsea’s performances under Enzo Maresca will be under scrutiny next season, but Boehly’s comments suggest that the club is focusing on a long-term strategy rather than short-term fixes.
