Former Chelsea winger Joe Cole believes the Blues should target Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels as they look to strengthen between the sticks.

Speaking on The Dressing Room Podcast, Cole highlighted Sels as one of the best keepers in the Premier League right now.

“Do you know who I think is one of the best goalkeepers in the league at the moment? Sels from Forest,” Cole said.

“Mate, I’m telling you. Watch him play. Assured, makes saves… I don’t know whether he’s having a golden period in his time but they are out there. You’ve just got to pick the right one.”

Chelsea’s current goalkeeping situation remains uncertain, with neither Robert Sanchez nor Filip Jorgensen delivering consistently strong performances. Both have made costly errors, raising questions over whether Enzo Maresca needs a more reliable option.

The Blues do have other goalkeepers on their books, including Kepa Arrizabalaga, Djordje Petrovic and Mike Penders, but the position remains one of the squad’s weakest areas.

With Cole endorsing Sels as a potential signing, Chelsea may have to reassess their options ahead of the next transfer window.
