Southampton manager Ivan Juric has acknowledged uncertainty over his future after his side suffered a crushing 4-0 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
The loss marked Southampton’s 22nd defeat of the season, leaving them deep in relegation trouble. Goals from Christopher Nkunku, Pedro Neto, Levi Colwill, and Marc Cucurella secured a dominant win for Chelsea, who climbed back into the Premier League’s top four.
Reflecting on the match, Juric admitted his team started well but struggled after conceding:
“I think we did really good the first 25 or 30 minutes. We had two big chances with Paul and we were very competitive with them.
“Then we conceded a set-pieces goal and the first one and third one in one transition and it became really difficult after the first half.
“It was almost finished because 3-0 against Chelsea is a lot, but I think the guys gave everything they have in this moment and that’s it.”
Despite Southampton’s struggles, Juric remained hopeful that these tough times could fuel future improvements:
“It is a really tough moment for everybody, for the players, for the club, but it has to be energy for the future.
“All these negative moments to accumulate energy and try to do better in the future.”
With Southampton staring at an immediate return to the Championship, Juric’s position remains uncertain as the club battles to salvage their season.
