Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has thrown his full support behind Cole Palmer, insisting the young attacker will soon rediscover his goal-scoring form despite failing to find the net in his last seven appearances.

Palmer endured another frustrating night in Chelsea’s 4-0 win over Southampton, missing multiple chances. However, Maresca remains unconcerned about the forward’s dry spell, praising his attitude and mentality.

He said: “It is how you react. He is reacting perfectly. He is smiling and he is happy. We have no doubt he will score more goals.”

Maresca also highlighted that even the best players experience rough patches in their careers:

“He’s a human being. All human beings, all big players, all the normal players, big club, big manager – we all go through a bad moment.

“Even if he is young, he shared time in a big club and he knows that all the big players go through moments like this.”

With Chelsea back in the top-four race, Maresca is confident Palmer will soon be back among the goals as the season progresses.
