The goalkeeper department has been a huge concern for Chelsea this season.
Enzo Maresca had initially started with Robert Sanchez as his first choice in goal. The Spaniard was often criticised for his errors that cost Chelsea valuable points.
Enzo Maresca eventually bowed to pressure and handed over the number one spot to Filip Jorgensen.
It hasn’t been smooth sailing for Jorgensen either, as he has been shipping in the goals as well. Against Aston Villa, his big error cost Chelsea at least a point, as he failed to grapple a tame shot on goal by Marco Asensio.
With another fixture on the horizon, speculation has arisen over whether Jorgensen will keep his place in the starting lineup. However, Maresca admitted he has yet to make a final decision.
“I don’t know at this moment,” Enzo Maresca said when asked if the Danish goalkeeper would start against Southampton.
Chelsea will now turn their focus to their next home game, where they will be desperate to deliver a much-needed victory for their supporters.
