Betfair Ambassador Alan Shearer has previewed Chelsea’s upcoming Premier League clash with Aston Villa, predicting another tough outing for Enzo Maresca’s side following their 3-0 defeat to Brighton last weekend.
Shearer highlighted the significance of the match for Villa but didn’t hold back in his assessment of Chelsea’s recent form.
“It’s another big game for Aston Villa, but they’ll play a Chelsea team who were rotten in their last game against Brighton.”
The former England striker reiterated his belief that Chelsea’s final league position remains uncertain due to their inconsistency.
“I have said that Chelsea could still finish anywhere between fourth and ninth, and also that when they’re out of cup competitions, it would get harder for Enzo Maresca to manage. I think that’s proven to be the case.”
With Villa playing at home, Shearer expects Unai Emery’s side to take all three points.
Prediction: Aston Villa win.
