Kendry Páez may not officially join Chelsea until he turns 18 in May, but the Ecuadorian wonderkid is already settling into life in London and has no plans to return to Independiente del Valle on loan.
According to IDV director Andrés Larriva, the decision for Páez to relocate was the best move for his development.
“Kendry travelled to London to join Chelsea, and I think it was the best thing to do given the atmosphere here that was harming him,” Larriva revealed.
The teenage sensation, who scored eight goals in 41 appearances for Independiente del Valle last season, has already visited Cobham and begun adapting to his new surroundings.
With his focus now firmly on Chelsea, Larriva made it clear that a return to Ecuador is unlikely.
“I see it as very complicated for Kendry to return to play with IDV. He is looking for his home in London and focused on his future.”
Páez could potentially make his Chelsea debut at the Club World Cup in June, with a short transfer window before the tournament offering him the chance to be registered early.
