It has been two months since news broke about Mykhailo Mudryk’s positive doping test, leaving his career in limbo as the football world awaits the results of his B sample analysis.

The outcome of the B sample could either confirm the initial test, leading to a long suspension, or clear Mudryk of any wrongdoing, allowing him to return to the pitch. However, the timeline for this process remains uncertain.

How Does the B Sample Analysis Work?

According to the head of the National Anti-Doping Center (NADC):

“The procedure is conducted in the same laboratory as the A sample analysis, ensuring full transparency and independence.”

The B sample is tested under the same strict confidentiality and organizational standards as the A sample. The key difference is that the athlete has the right to be present during the process or send a representative to oversee the verification of sample numbers and ensure the procedure is followed correctly.

If neither the athlete nor their representative can attend, an independent observer is assigned to confirm the sample’s integrity and prevent any tampering.

How Long Does the B Sample Analysis Take?

There is no fixed timeline for revealing the results, as multiple factors affect the duration. These include:

• The time of the request submission

• The laboratory’s technical readiness

• The type of detected substance

• The athlete’s or their representative’s availability for the process

An expert on doping procedures explains:

“But generally, the analysis of the B sample takes anywhere from a few days to several weeks.”

With Chelsea and Mudryk still waiting for clarity on the situation, the delay raises concerns over his future at the club. Until the results are disclosed, the uncertainty surrounding his career continues.
