Mikel blasts Chelsea owners: “You need to win trophies, not make profit”

Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has called out the club’s ownership, insisting that their focus should be on winning trophies rather than financial gain.

Mikel also defended Cole Palmer, acknowledging a slight dip in form but emphasising that the young playmaker cannot carry the team alone.

“Cole Palmer, his form has dipped a little bit, but the guy can’t do everything alone. The pressure always should be on the owners.”

The ex-Chelsea star criticised the club’s direction under its current leadership, making it clear that their priority should be success on the pitch.

“They’ve bought this football club with the sole purpose of winning – not making profit.”

Mikel went further, sending a strong message to Chelsea’s owners, expressing his frustration with their approach.

“If you buy Chelsea Football Club and think you are here to make profit, no mate, you can f** off, you can f*** off. You need to win trophies. You can make your profit, but you need to win trophies.”*

His comments reflect the growing concern among fans over Chelsea’s struggles this season, with expectations far from being met under Enzo Maresca.
