Chelsea initially attempted to sell Portuguese defender Renato Veiga to Juventus for €33 million plus bonuses before agreeing to a loan deal, reports TMW.
Juventus, reluctant to meet Chelsea’s valuation, instead pursued a loan move for the 21-year-old, which was finalised in January. The Italian giants secured Veiga’s services for the remainder of the season, paying a loan fee of €5 million.
Discussions regarding a potential permanent transfer will take place in June, as Juve assesses Veiga’s performances and future role in their squad.
Chelsea, who signed the versatile defender from Basel last summer, will be keen to negotiate favourable terms should the Serie A side push to retain him.
