Enzo Maresca has dismissed concerns that Chelsea’s progress under his management could be undone in the second half of the season, insisting that the team’s journey remains on the right track.
Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s upcoming fixtures, the Italian manager made it clear that the work put into shaping this team cannot be disregarded.
“I don’t think what we have done can be cancelled, or not good, because what we have done is there,” Maresca stated.
While Chelsea have been eliminated from both domestic cup competitions, Maresca remains positive about their overall season, particularly in the Premier League and the UEFA Conference League.
“Unfortunately we are out of both the domestic cups but our journey in the Premier League until today has been fantastic and in the Conference League, it has been fantastic until today. We will try to finish in the best way we can.”
The Chelsea boss also highlighted the club’s steady progress in the league compared to previous seasons, reinforcing his belief that they are heading in the right direction.
He went on: “Don’t forget in the last two years, Chelsea have never been top four and this year, we spent almost the entire year in the top four.”
He concluded with a firm commitment to restoring Chelsea’s Champions League status.
“This shows you and everyone that we are in the right direction. Now we will try our best to finish and bring this club to where it belongs to be – in the Champions League.”
With the final stretch of the season approaching, Maresca and his squad remain focused on securing a top-four finish and proving their long-term ambitions under his leadership.
