Chelsea are reportedly keen to accelerate the arrival of Ecuadorian prodigy Kendry Paez to Stamford Bridge, with plans to bring the 17-year-old to London as early as next week. The Blues are eager to help the teenage sensation settle into the club and adapt to life in Europe ahead of his official move.

Paez was originally expected to join Chelsea in a £17.2 million deal in the summer of 2025, following his 18th birthday in May. However, reports from FutbolEcuador suggest that Chelsea have initiated talks to move the young talent from Independiente del Valle sooner than anticipated.

Independiente del Valle’s sporting manager, Luis Fernando Saritama, confirmed the discussions, stating: “Last week we spoke with Kendry Paez, and there are two possibilities. Chelsea has requested that the player have a period of adaptation in Europe from now on. We are analysing it with his representation agency and the club that owns his rights.”

Despite his youth, Paez has already made a significant impact in Ecuadorian football. With 70 appearances for Independiente del Valle, he has scored 16 goals and provided six assists, showcasing his remarkable talent and maturity on the pitch. Paez also made his debut for Ecuador’s senior national team in September 2023 and has since earned 17 caps, scoring twice. Notably, his first international goal made him the youngest-ever South American to score in a World Cup qualification match—a goal assisted by his future Chelsea teammate, Moises Caicedo.

Saritama added, “I would not rule out the possibility that Kendry will not play with us these months, however, the issue of the adaptation period is being evaluated. He has told us of his intention to have an adaptation period in Europe, and we understand that.”

When asked about the potential timeline for Paez’s move, Independiente del Valle indicated that the youngster could travel to Europe as soon as February. “On the 17th or 20th of this month, Kendry Paez will make his first trip to Europe. What prevails here is the decision of the club and the player, and the intention of both is to have a period of adaptation in Europe before he turns 18.”

Chelsea fans will be excited at the prospect of seeing Paez integrate into the squad sooner than expected, with the club clearly prioritising his development and ensuring he’s ready to make an impact in the Premier League when the time comes.
