Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner is expecting an immediate contribution from Ben Chilwell after securing the Chelsea fullback on loan for the remainder of the season.
Chilwell, who joined Palace last Monday, brings valuable Premier League experience to Selhurst Park, and Glasner is confident the England international will quickly bolster his squad.
“When we were looking for players on the market, Ben was always one of our main targets,” Glasner revealed. “He has experience in the Premier League and it was also about who can help us straight away, because we only have three and a half months, then it’s the end of the season.”
Glasner also highlighted Chilwell’s versatility and his success under former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel, where he played a key role in the club’s Champions League triumph. “He played as a full-back with Thomas Tuchel when they won the Champions League, he can play in a back four,” Glasner added.
With Palace looking to strengthen their defensive options, Chilwell’s arrival could prove crucial as the club pushes to secure a strong finish to the season.
