Former Premier League defender Bacary Sagna has weighed in on Chelsea’s turbulent season, sharing his thoughts on several key players and the challenges they’re facing at Stamford Bridge.

Starting with goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, Sagna stressed the importance of mental resilience and team support. “Mistakes happen, but it’s crucial to move on quickly and maintain a positive vibe,” he said. He also highlighted that goalkeeping errors aren’t solely down to the man between the posts, adding, “Defenders also share responsibility when goals are conceded.”

Turning to Pedro Neto, who made a £54 million move from Wolves, Sagna expressed mixed feelings about the winger’s impact. “He’s still improving, but expectations are higher at Chelsea,” Sagna remarked, acknowledging Neto’s potential while pointing out his underwhelming output so far.

Sagna didn’t shy away from addressing Joao Felix’s time at Chelsea either. The Portuguese forward, despite his undeniable talent, struggled to find consistency. “His body language didn’t always match his quality,” Sagna observed, noting that Felix found it difficult to secure regular opportunities, especially with Cole Palmer’s standout form this season.

On Christopher Nkunku, Sagna highlighted the Frenchman’s battle with injuries as his biggest obstacle since joining the Blues. “Consistency in fitness and performance is key,” he stated, pointing out that Nkunku has struggled to stay fit, which has hindered his ability to make a significant impact.

With Chelsea enduring another inconsistent season, Sagna’s insights reflect the mounting pressure on both new signings and established players to deliver at a club where, as he put it, “expectations are higher.”
