Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has provided key injury updates ahead of the Blues’ upcoming FA Cup clash with Brighton.
Speaking to the media, Maresca confirmed bad news for young striker Marc Guiu while offering more optimistic updates on Nicolas Jackson and Romeo Lavia.
“Marc [Guiu], unfortunately, it’s a bad injury,” Maresca revealed, suggesting the youngster could be sidelined for a significant period. However, there was more encouraging news regarding Nicolas Jackson, with the manager stating, “Nico [Jackson] is better. He could be [available]. He could be a risk.”
While Jackson’s return remains uncertain, Maresca clarified that the injury doesn’t appear to be severe: “It doesn’t [look like a long injury. We’re still waiting [for Guiu]. It doesn’t look like a short injury.”
This leaves the striker’s availability for the Brighton game in doubt, but it seems the club is hopeful for a swift recovery.
On Romeo Lavia, Maresca was less optimistic: “Romeo [Lavia] is still in the process, long way to go,” he concluded, indicating that the midfielder’s return is still some time away.
With these updates, Chelsea face important selection decisions ahead of their FA Cup encounter with Brighton.
