According to The Athletic, Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca was keen to retain Cesare Casadei and Renato Veiga, two players who left the club last month.

Despite Maresca’s desire to keep them in his squad, both players opted to move in search of more regular playing time.

Renato Veiga secured a loan move to Juventus, where he hopes to feature prominently in his preferred centre-back role. Meanwhile, Cesare Casadei completed a permanent transfer to Torino for a reported £12.5 million fee.

Their departures highlight the challenge Maresca faces in balancing squad depth with player ambitions for regular first-team football.
