Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has revealed the key half-time message that helped his side overturn a first-half deficit and secure a 2-1 victory against West Ham.
Speaking after the match, Maresca explained that he urged his players to remain patient and stick to their approach, believing that West Ham’s intense pressing would eventually fade.
“My message at half-time was don’t change anything, continue in the same way, because they cannot be so intense for 95 minutes. It is impossible because they were just running behind the ball,” Maresca explained.
His confidence in Chelsea’s tactics proved correct, as the team found more space in the second half and capitalised on their opportunities. The Italian manager also praised the contributions of his substitutes, who played a crucial role in securing the win.
“Second half, we found a little bit more space, and also the subs from the bench were very good. So I am very happy for that reason,” he added.
With this victory, Chelsea demonstrated their resilience and ability to adapt under Maresca, securing a crucial three points in their push for a strong finish to the season.
