Chelsea have officially recalled striker David Datro Fofana from his loan spell at Turkish club Göztepe after he sustained a knee injury.
The 22-year-old had been enjoying a spell in the Turkish Super Lig, where he scored two goals in nine appearances, but his season has now been cut short due to the setback.
Fofana’s injury is expected to keep him sidelined for the rest of the campaign, prompting Chelsea to bring him back for rehabilitation. His early return also frees up a loan spot for Chelsea to send another player abroad before the January transfer window closes.
The Ivorian forward, who joined Chelsea from Molde in January 2023, previously had a loan spell at Union Berlin in the Bundesliga but struggled for consistency. His latest setback raises questions about his long-term future at Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea likely to assess his recovery before making decisions on his next steps.
