Ben Chilwell is set to stay at Chelsea for the remainder of the season unless a new club makes a move for him before the transfer window closes, according to the Daily Mail.

Chelsea had hoped to find a loan destination for the left-back in January, but no clubs showed interest after his limited appearances this season.

Chilwell’s only appearance under Enzo Maresca was as a substitute in a League Cup match against Barrow, and he has since had little chance of playing a role in the first team. Despite this, the 28-year-old continues training at Cobham to maintain his fitness.

After joining Chelsea in 2020, Chilwell won the Champions League as a starter and is the club’s second-highest earner. However, Maresca has made it clear that Chilwell doesn’t fit the profile of the full-back he requires.
