Juventus have finalised the signing of Chelsea defender Renato Veiga on a loan deal for the remainder of the season.
The Italian giants will cover the Portugal international’s wages and pay a £3.8 million loan fee, though no option to buy was included in the agreement.
Veiga, who joined Chelsea last summer, made 18 appearances for the Blues in the first half of the season, contributing two goals and one assist, all in the Europa Conference League.
Primarily set to feature as a centre-half for Juventus, Veiga’s versatility allows him to also operate as a fullback or midfielder, adding flexibility to the squad.
The move gives Veiga an opportunity to gain valuable experience in Serie A, as Juventus look to strengthen their defensive options for the remainder of their campaign.
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca had urged Veiga to stay last week, saying: “If there is a player who just wants to play in one position, they’re going to struggle.”
