Chelsea captain Reece James shared his thoughts on the team’s 3-1 defeat to Manchester City, expressing both frustration and hope as the Blues continue to navigate a challenging season.
Speaking after the match, James highlighted the fine margins that separate success from failure in games of such magnitude. “Goals are what make players, make teams, win games and win titles, and when the ball isn’t dropping for you, it’s tough, especially when you’re playing against tough teams,” the defender explained.
Despite the disappointing result, James remains optimistic about Chelsea’s progress under manager Enzo Maresca. “I like to think we’re making progress, even though the results don’t show that at the minute,” he said. “It’s tough to see. We’re giving it our all and hopefully, the results will start reflecting our effort.”
The Chelsea skipper also emphasised the gap in experience between his side and their opponents, drawing attention to the time it takes to build a successful team. “If you look at it, we’ve been together less than a year, and they’ve been together for seven years maybe. They’ve had a lot longer to work with the manager and the team.”
James urged fans to remain patient as the squad continues to develop.
“We’re still building, and we hope to put things right. We need to take it one game at a time and see where we are at the end of the season,” he concluded.
While Chelsea’s results may not yet reflect their effort, James’ words provide insight into the team’s determination to turn things around as they aim to close the gap on their rivals.
What are you building??you must be very shameless,,because of being position tow and now your standing number six, that choches must leave the team
We have been monitoring chelsea since maresca joined but there is no changes,,you must create strong defensive in your team maresca, when you score one goal put a defensive so that you can mentain the winning line
Why James we are really disappointed because everyday building and the house keep rebuilding itself
