Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca addressed Robert Sanchez’s recent mistakes following the Blues’ 3-1 defeat to Manchester City. Sanchez, who made yet another decisive error, now leads the Premier League in errors directly leading to goals.
“Robert, for sure, is completely aware he has to do better. He knows perfectly,” Maresca admitted during his post-match press conference. “In this moment, it is like this. The good thing is he is the first one knowing, aware that he has to do better.”
Despite the goalkeeper’s struggles, Maresca reaffirmed his faith in Sanchez, emphasising the importance of backing his player during a challenging period. “We trust Robert for sure,” he stated. “He is completely aware he is making mistakes in this moment. We trust Robert. We have one entire week, and we will see the reaction for the next game.”
Sanchez’s form has come under increasing scrutiny, with Chelsea’s defensive stability being called into question. However, Maresca’s comments signal his intention to stick with the goalkeeper, hoping he will bounce back and prove his worth in the coming matches.
