Despite the backlash facing Robert Sanchez, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca had doubled down on his support for the Spanish shot-stopper, maintaining that he’d continue as the club’s first choice goalkeeper.

Pundits and fans have warned that Robert Sanchez could cost Chelsea a top place position this season, but Enzo Maresca downplayed such talks claiming that Sanchez has made mistakes just as the likes of Moises Caicedo.

“I fully trust Robert Sanchez,” Maresca stated. “How many times has [Moises] Caicedo missed a pass? Many times. How many times has Nico [Jackson] missed a goal? Many times. How many times has Noni [Madueke] missed a cross? Many times. Robert has made four mistakes.”

Well, Robert Sanchez has now made five mistakes leading to goals, and the season isn’t over yet. His mistake cost Chelsea against Manchester City, which has seen Chelsea drop down to sixth place in the league.
